Hardware notes

Choose the detection task first.

A mounting envelope, a power budget and a receiving system are more useful than a similar-looking enclosure.

Pole-mount radar sensor
A pole-mounted head avoids a pavement cut, but still needs a compatible controller and a planned mounting angle.

Presence, passage or motion?

An inductive loop holds a vehicle-presence zone. A pneumatic tube records axle events during a temporary survey. A magnetic puck measures a localized disturbance. A roadside radar observes movement without pavement cutting. A through-beam pair detects interruption along a clear line. These are different sensing tasks, not interchangeable accuracy grades.

Survey the installation envelope

Record lane width, cabinet distance, available power, controller interface and mounting access. A loop needs a saw cut and sealing; a puck needs a core-drilled recess; optical heads need opposed alignment; radar needs a clear view and correct aim. Our dimensions are the supplied hardware envelope, not a complete civil-works drawing.

Check the controller

Dry relay contacts and RS-485 are different interfaces. RS-485 describes an electrical layer, not a shared command language. Ask for the receiving controller protocol and test arrangement before ordering. Design power protection, earthing and cable routing with a competent installer.

Choose transponder construction

Use a flexible tag only where adhesive mounting is permitted; removal can destroy it. A rigid cradle allows removal of the housing. An exterior plate bar moves the reading position outside the glass. A selectable housing is useful only where the reader understands the selected state. A powered heavy-vehicle unit needs protected vehicle wiring.

Reader and enrollment check

Before fulfillment, the intended deployment must be checked against the supplied dimensions, power, interface and mounting requirements. For transponders, confirm the exact reader protocol and operator acceptance/enrollment requirements with the receiving system. Frequency alone is not compatibility. No universal network acceptance, operator endorsement, activation, prepaid balance or toll-payment service is offered.

Do not send a toll-account password. Obtain the operator’s accepted hardware specification and confirm enrollment separately. These products do not include trips, a balance, a discount entitlement or activation.

FAQ: Will any unit work with my toll road?

No. Confirm the exact receiving protocol and operator requirements before fulfillment. A matching frequency is not sufficient.

FAQ: Can I use these as a safety stop?

No certified safety function is claimed. Use an independently specified, appropriately certified safety system where a risk assessment requires one.

FAQ: What should I send with a question?

A mounting sketch, power and interface specification, reader requirements and the intended task are useful. Keep personal vehicle documents and account credentials out of the message.
